In-person classes at Rose Acres Elementary School only are canceled Friday, March 12, due to an urgent plumbing issue that needs to be repaired. While the plumbing is being fixed, restrooms in the building will not be available for use. Friday will be an independent virtual learning day for students who attend classes both in-person classes and via the Villemade Virtual Academy at Rose Acres. Students should log into their Seesaw account to view instructions from their teachers and to find out when their teachers are available for support. As an awareness for family schedules, today’s virtual learning day will not need to be made up in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause families and appreciate your patience and understanding.
The Lighthouse Leadership Environment team at Rose Acres encouraged all staff members to decorate their doors for Valentine’s Day.
“We thought this would be the perfect time to do a little holiday decorating,” music teacher Emily Doherty said in an email. “How fun would it be to walk down the halls and see the doors to each classroom decorated for Valentine's Day?”
Each classroom that decorated their door will compete to earn prizes, but the idea is also connected to the school-wide personal Wildly Important Goal which is 100% of the Rose Acres community will do their part to contribute to the environment where everyone feels loved or connected.
Since December, the Pattonville School District has been participating in a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) program studying COVID-19 transmission and mitigation strategies in schools. Pattonville joined other schools in Missouri to partner with the CDC on the project as a way to evaluate the district’s strategies for keeping students and staff safe while attending school during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the study is ongoing, preliminary results in the Missouri study and previous school-related studies in the U.S. have shown that in-school transmission of COVID-19 is rare when mitigation strategies are in place.
