Four students in PEGS - Program for Exceptionally Gifted Students and Rose Acres fifth grader Nafas Parsang held a book signing after they were named winners and finalists in the St. Louis Writers Guild Young Writers Contest and had their stories published in a collection.
Held from August to October, young writers are given a first line and then they provide the next 500 to 1,500 words. Out of the hundreds of entries received, fourth graders Donald McCullough, Jackson McCullough and Adelaide Pagel, and fifth graders Parsang and Eva Pulley had their stories selected.
At Friday’s event, all of the students received a certificate and a gift bag with their own book from the Writers Guild. The students signed each copy and read aloud their stories that began with the opening line of "When the door opened ..."
The Pattonville Board of Education on Dec. 14 approved asking Pattonville residents to vote on a $111 million zero-tax-rate-change bond issue on April 5, 2022 to fund a new master facilities plan for the district. The plan calls for adding classrooms to address growth in student enrollment; providing safety and maintenance improvements; and updating school facilities to meet current and future teaching and learning needs (see project lists below). Approval of the bond issue would not require an increase in the district tax rate.
The Pattonville School District is partnering with the Pattonville Fire Protection District to offer COVID-19 vaccine clinics for students and adults, ages 5 and up, beginning on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Pattonville High School. Pattonville fire department representatives will be on hand to administer the Pfizer vaccine for students ages 5 and older. All three COVID-19 vaccines (Johnson and Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer) will be available for adults who need a booster shot or who have yet to be vaccinated. All students ages 5-17 will need to have a parent or guardian present at the vaccine clinic.
